Be reassured there is also always the option to cancel your subscription completely, but I luckily haven’t even nearly felt the need to do so thus far.
There have been a couple of times I’ve been left with a little extra in the jars at the time of my next subscription renewal I have had no issue delaying orders by a week or two. What if you don’t like the products? What if you run out or have too much before your next order? If you can’t find a set that fits exactly what you’re after, you can also mix and match individual products to create your own set to subscribe to whilst still getting the juicy discount. The only thing that could improve the moisturising balm for me would be for it to include SPF protection, as some other companies offer.
Lumin products skin#
The balm – including apple and ginger extracts and meadowfoam seed oil – really left my skin (naturally slightly oily) feeling hydrated yet oil free from the morning right through to the late evening. This is something I quickly grew to love, with it leaving your morning routine beautifully straightforward. It really gives a new meaning to the phrase ‘beauty sleep’, as while you get some shut eye to recover from the day, it’s working its magic to allow you to wake up a more handsome fellow than when you went to bed. You’re not walking around with it on your face for the whole day, so it can be jam packed with as many nutrients and vitamins as your skin can handle. But as it is designed to be washed off in the morning, this makes a lot of sense. On first impressions, the balm seemed a little bit heavier than some other creams I have tried, thicker between the fingers. Let’s start with what I’d consider the most important part of any good skincare routine, the moisturiser. The charcoal cleanser doesn’t differ from the norm and is used just the same as most other face washes: wet face, apply, rub, rinse, pat dry, sorted. My previous exfoliator was to be used on a wet face and so had become a staple part of my shower routine, so this was again a change that I wasn’t expecting but was intrigued to try out for myself. You then follow this by rinsing with lukewarm water. The exfoliator rub also had some differences to the one I was previously using, with the directions telling you to begin with a dry face, rubbing the product into your skin in circular motions until it begins to ‘ball up’. This took a bit of getting used to for me as my previous moisturiser was designed to be applied in the morning and then left on for the whole day and washed off at night, so this new system seemed almost backwards to what I was used to. You then wash it all off with only water in the morning to leave you with a fresh, hydrated face. The moisturising balm, for example, is recommended to be used only at night before you go to bed. But regardless, I read the instructions as I always do and have to say I was a little surprised by what I found… After all, there isn’t much place to go wrong when applying moisturiser as long as you manage to keep it out of your hair and eyes and I feel like I have this step mastered by now. Selected for me was the ‘Classic Maintenance Set’ – with an easily manageable 3 products involved, this is one of the least costly and most simple routines to implement into your day.Īs a guy who is very partial to a face mask, I went ahead and added a pack of the ‘Intensive Repair Face Masks’ to my order, and threw in a ‘Charcoal Cleansing Pore Strip’ pack too just for good measure, to really kickstart my new routine in style.Īs are the similarities between most skincare products that reading the ‘directions of use’ on the back of the product often feel like a waste of time. Luckily for me, my time, and my wallet, this wasn’t the case, and this is the first thing about Lumin that I loved it truly does feel like the personalised experience they promise to deliver.
Surely, I thought, it’s in the company’s best interests to have every customer purchase as many products at once as possible, so this is what they’ll recommend for me, right? Recommend that I start on some 8 product, 45-minute marathon of a routine that leaves me counting the pennies down the back of the sofa? I have to say, I was more than a little sceptical of this process of assigning different products to different people at first.
